The view of the Kozel (Goat in Czech) forest castle from a nearby hill is the work of artist Ivana Lomová, for whom this is the first postage stamp. For inspiration, the artist went directly to the place where she looked for the best view of the castle and also for interesting details of the castle.
The Renaissance stargazer was born 550 years ago in Toruń, Poland. The stamp is based on a portrait of Nicolaus Copernicus in a Renaissance perspective with a night sky showing the sun with four orbits orbiting the planet. The spines of his scientific writings stand out in the background.
After much anticipation not only among philatelists, the newly elected Czech President Petr Pavel presented an official postage stamp with his portrait. It has a total of ten different colour variants, a stamp price of 23 CZK (EUR 1) and will only be available in a full sheet with all ten colours for 230 CZK (EUR 10).
