9. January, 2026

From January 29 to 31, 2026, Berlin’s Estrel Hotel will once again become the center of world numismatics. The world’s largest trade fair of its kind, World
Money Fair (WMF), will host more than 320 exhibitors from 50 countries around the world this year. The anniversary edition will offer a unique look behind the scenes of coin and medal minting, investment forums, live presentations, and above all, the opportunity to meet business partners and friends.
The fair, founded in 1972 by Albert M. Beck in Basel, is celebrating exactly 20 years since its move to Berlin. During that time, the event has evolved from a local exchange into a global platform where mints, central banks, minting experts, numismatics dealers, and collectors from all continents meet. “This year, we will look back on the milestones of the past two decades, which bear the signature of my predecessor Barbara Balz, but at the same time we are looking ahead with a clear vision,” says the current director of the fair, Goetz-Ulf Jungmichel, optimistically.

Guest of honor: British tradition from Tower Mint
The London mint “Tower Mint” has been named the official guest of honor for 2026. Founded in 1976 by renowned sculptor Raphael Maklouf, it is the last mint located directly in London. It will celebrate its 50th anniversary at the fair and present examples of top British craftsmanship combined with modern technologies.
The Czech Mint presents a revolutionary innovation
The most prominent participant from the Czech Republic at the World Money Fair will be the Czech Mint, which will once again have a large stand in the main hall. In Berlin, it will present a special version of the Czech Lion investment coin, which will feature a stamped hologram instead of the traditional relief.

Although the coin appears very three-dimensional, collectors should not be fooled – the hologram is practically flat and cannot be felt. The motif of a lion’s head in profile is made up of microscopic reliefs with details starting in the order of nanometers – i.e., billionths of a meter.

The 2026 coin also hides a message that can only be revealed using a laser pointer.
Variants minted in gold, silver, and, for the first time in the history of the Czech Mint, copper will be available for sale.
Minting Experience Center: Become a „mintmaster“
One of the biggest attractions of the fair for the general public will be the interactive zone “Minting Experience Center” located in Hall 2. Here, visitors will be able to mint a limited edition medal in six production steps and learn about the entire coin minting process, from preparing the blank to the final minting. Everyone will receive their finished souvenir in a protective capsule from Leuchtturm, a specialist in albums and packaging for collectors.

Not just coins, but also art and history
The fair is constantly expanding and responding to modern trends. New this year are exhibitors who create inspiring jewelry from coins. History lovers should not miss the Giesecke+Devrient Foundation’s banknote exhibition. It is one of the most important collections of paper money in the world, tracing the development of money from its beginnings to today’s sophisticated security features.
Free valuations and expert forums
For visitors who have old coins at home and are unsure of their real value, the fair offers the opportunity to have them valued and assessed by experts from the Professional Association of German Coin Dealers (VdDM).

Parallel to the fair, there will be an “Investment Forum” where experts will discuss various strategies for purchasing precious metals, and a “Technical Forum” for experts in the field of metallurgy and minting.
On the “Live Stage,” visitors will be able to watch dynamic presentations of new coin issues for 2026.
Another new feature of this year’s program is the announcement of the winner of the audience award, for which people could vote online for the “Coin of the Month.” The final will take place on Saturday, January 31, at 2:00 p.m. on the Live Stage.

The day before the official opening of the fair, the traditional “Künker” auction will once again be held.
