A philatelic sensation in Prague – and visitors to the Sberatel Fair can be there to see it

Sberatel.info

23. August, 2026

From 29 August to 6 September 2026, Prague’s Municipal House, one of the finest examples of European Art Nouveau, will become one of the most closely guarded treasure houses in Europe. The third edition of the prestigious “Treasures of World Philately” exhibition will present rarities with a total value approaching €42 million. For the first time in the history of the Czech Republic, visitors will be able to see the legendary British Guiana One-Cent Magenta, the world’s most expensive postage stamp, as well as the famous Inverted Jenny. Every collector planning to visit the international Sberatel Fair on 4–5 September will therefore have two very good reasons to come to Prague.

More than 250 exhibitors from around the world will take part in the Sberatel Fair, the largest gathering of collectors in Central and Eastern Europe.

Almost 10,000 visitors come to the PVA EXPO Prague exhibition centre every year. Exhibitors will offer them postage stamps, coins, medals, banknotes, postcards, old shares, autographs and many other collectables. Many dealers will be coming to Prague for the first time, and visitors can also look forward to an interesting accompanying programme.

This year, the Sberatel Fair will once again be accompanied on both days by the Minerals and Gemstones Fair. On Saturday, 5 September, visitors can also attend the Vinyl & Stereo Expo, a fair for records and CDs. And for the first time, Saturday, 5 September will also see the new All Cards Arena, focusing on TCG cards such as Pokémon and collectable sports cards.

The “Treasures of World Philately” exhibition is organised by the prestigious collectors’ club Prestige Philately Club Prague (PPCP) in cooperation with international partners such as the auction house Stanley Gibbons. There has never been an exhibition of this scale and value in the history of the Czech Republic.

The Municipal House is one of Prague’s best-known Art Nouveau buildings.

Main highlights of the exhibition:

  • British Guiana One-Cent Magenta
  • Inverted Jenny
  • Mauritius and Penny Black – Visitors will see extremely rare blocks of Mauritius stamps from the “Post Paid” issues, as well as a unique letter bearing three different historic Mauritius stamps. The exhibition will also include the legendary Penny Black, the world’s first postage stamp, issued in 1840, presented in a unique strip of twelve stamps.
  • Czechoslovak national treasures – the most complete collection of First Czechoslovak Republic Scout stamps from 1918 and exceptionally rare items from the “Pošta československá 1919” issue.
